루퍼스 웨인라이트는 물랑 루즈(Complainte De La Butte), 슈렉(Hallelujah), 브리짓 존스의 일기 2: 열정과 애정(I Eat Dinner), 에이비에이터(I’ll Build A Stairway To Paradise) 등의 OST 에 참여했기 때문에 그렇게 낯설지는 않다. 물론 꽃미남, 미소년 계열이라는 것도 무시할 수는 없고. 하지만 물론 일종의 편견이겠지만, 일찌감치 커밍아웃한 게이라는 정체성을 가진 루퍼스는 퀴어 애즈 포크나 최근의 브로크백 마운틴에서 가장 빛이 난다. 그리고 슈렉에 삽입된 할렐루야 때문에 제프 버클리와 종종 비교되고, 어쿠스틱 기타, 피아노, 현악기 중심의 편성 때문에 체임버 팝을 한다식으로 도매금으로 넘어가기도 하지만, 루퍼스는 확실한 자기 “목소리”가 있다. Poses 앨범이 빛이 나는 것도 솔직하고 진솔하게 풀어놓는 가사와 곡에 따라 다양한 모습으로 등장하는 보컬이 루퍼스만의 색을 잘 표현해주기 때문이다. 특히 “해를 끼칠지라도 작지만 힘있는 무엇들을 나는 사랑한다”고 호소력이 짙게 노래하는 Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk 같은 곡은 참 괜.찮.다. 담배와 쵸콜렛 우유가 참 괜찮듯이.

웨인라이트는 참 멜랑콜리라는 말이 잘 어울리는 가수 인것 같습니다. The OC의 시즌 클로징 에피소드에 엔딩에서 할렐루야를 듣고 부랴부랴 슈렉 사운드트랙에서도 있었다는 사실을 알게 되었답니다. 개인적으로는 L words에서 쓰였을때가 가장 가슴 절절했습니다.
뱀다리) 개인적으론 담배는 커피와 함께.. 짐자무쉬 엉아의 영화도 있잖아요 ^^

안녕하세요. 음… 많이 듣던 노래인데.. 아무튼 이 노래 저 노래 매우 잘 듣고 갑니다. 따님은 행복한 아이군요. 우리 아버지는 저에게 음악을 들려주신 적이 없어서요.. ^^;
